Chase's Newborn Session: A Photographer's Trust in Another Photographer

Florence, SC Newborn & Boudoir Photographer (photos below)
When a fellow photographer asks you to capture their newborn session, it's both an incredible honor and just a little nerve-wracking. Lexi, who happens to be the best wedding photographer in our area, trusted me to photograph her sweet son Chase along with proud big sister Elise and dad Derek. That kind of trust means everything to me.

Meet Little Chase

Chase was absolutely perfect for his session at my Florence studio. At just days old, he had that newborn magic, the kind where they curl up in the most beautiful poses like they're still dreaming of the womb. His dark hair caught the soft studio lighting just right, and those tiny features were so delicate and perfect.

He gave me everything I could ask for during our time together. Sleepy poses wrapped in soft knits, alert moments where his eyes seemed to take in this whole new world, and even a few yawns that made my heart melt. I love working with cream and sage tones for newborn sessions, and Chase looked gorgeous against those soft backdrops.

The basket shots turned out beautifully too. There's something so classic about a newborn nestled in natural textures. Chase settled right in like he belonged there, which made my job so much easier. Those tiny hands and feet deserve their own spotlight too, so we captured plenty of detail shots that parents always treasure.

Big Sister Elise's Proud Moments

New sister Elise was absolutely glowing with pride over her brand new baby brother. She wore the sweetest floral dress with a matching bow, and you could see how excited she was to be a big sister. The way she looked at Chase during their photos together was pure love.

She was so gentle with him, following directions perfectly and really wanting to help with every shot. Those sibling moments are some of my favorites to capture because they show the beginning of a lifelong bond. Elise even gave Chase the sweetest little kiss, which made for a beautiful black and white portrait.

Family Portraits

Derek was such a natural with his son, and you could see the pride and love in every shot. The way he held Chase so tenderly made for some really beautiful father and son portraits. Lexi looked radiant in her olive green dress, with that new mom glow in full effect.

Getting the whole family together for group shots is always special, but there was something extra meaningful about this session. Maybe it's because I know how much work goes into building a family, or maybe it's because I understand what it means for one photographer to trust another with such precious moments.

The black and white family portrait we captured really shows the connection between all four of them. Sometimes the most powerful images are the simplest ones, where you can just feel the love radiating from the frame. Naturally, not posed.

Working with photographer families always keeps me on my toes, but in the best way. Lexi knew exactly what she wanted, which made the session flow so smoothly. And having that professional understanding between us meant we could focus entirely on creating beautiful memories of Chase's first days.
