Charity’s Boudoir Session | Finding Confidence Again - Reflection Images by Tracy Rowell

One of the most intriguing parts of boudoir photography is that it is rarely just about the pictures.

The images are important, of course. But so often, the experience becomes something much deeper - a moment where a woman gets to see herself again, maybe for the first time in a long time.

That is what Charity’s session felt like.

I had photographed Charity’s daughter in the past, so when she came back to me for her boudoir session, it meant so much. There was already a level of trust there, and she shared that she felt comfortable with me because she knew the love and care I put into my work.

That trust is something I never take lightly.

Before her session, Charity told me she was feeling a little self-conscious. She had weight fluctuations as a result of IVF hormones and had lost a significant amount of weight but she still hadn’t fully gained confidence in herself or felt completely comfortable in her body.

And I think so many women can relate to that.
Many times our bodies carry stories. Motherhood, hormones, weight changes, exhaustion, healing, survival, growth - all of it leaves a mark. And even after we make it through a difficult season, it can take time for our hearts and minds to catch up with the woman standing in the mirror.

Charity came into her session as a tired mom who had spent so much of her energy pouring into everyone else. This session was something she chose for herself.

And that alone is powerful.

She was nervous at first, which is completely normal. But one thing she did know was that I would guide her through it.
And I did.

Every pose. Every expression. Every little detail.

As she walked through the door, discussed outfit ideas with me and started getting makeup done, the nerves started to fade. We had fun together, we talked, laughed, and moved through the session together in a way that felt easy and comfortable.

She later told me that one of her favorite parts was simply laughing and having fun with it.

That is one of my favorite things to hear.

Because boudoir does not have to feel intimidating. It can be joyful. It can be healing. It can be emotional. It can be fun. And sometimes, it can be the very thing that helps you remember a part of yourself you thought you had lost.

The exciting part is my clients see their images, that same day! When Charity saw herself on the large screen, she said she felt amazing.

But what stood out to me most was what she said afterward:
She didn’t pick herself apart. Like she always had before.

That matters.

Because so many women are used to looking at photos of themselves and immediately searching for flaws. But in this moment, Charity saw herself differently. She saw strength. Beauty. Confidence. A woman who deserved to feel good in her own skin.

Since her session, she shared that she feels more confident wearing clothes that actually fit her body instead of hiding in baggy pieces. She feels more comfortable in form-fitting clothes. More confident in herself. More connected to the body she had worked so hard to feel at home in again.

That is why this experience means so much to me.

Boudoir is not about becoming someone else.

It is about coming back to yourself.

Or maybe even just seeing the woman who has been there all along - the one who has carried so much, given so much, overcome so much, and still deserves to feel beautiful, confident, and celebrated.

Charity described her session in three words: Empowering. Fun. Self-love.
And when I asked what she would tell someone who is considering a boudoir session but feels nervous or not ready yet, she said:
“Do it! You won’t ever feel truly ready until you do it and that’s normal.”

I love that so much because it is true.

You do not have to walk into my studio already confident. You do not have to know how to pose, what to do with your hands, or how to “be sexy.”

You just have to show up.

I will guide you through the rest.

If you have been through a season where you stopped recognizing yourself, stopped celebrating yourself, or started hiding from the camera, I want you to know this experience can be for you too.

You are allowed to do something just for yourself.

You are allowed to feel beautiful right now.

I would be honored to create this experience for you.

Are You Ready? Because I'm ready!!

Newborn & Boudoir Photographer Florence SC

I have been a successful professional photographer and the owner of a professional boudoir photography studio in Florence, SC, since 2011. We have done a little of everything over the years but newborn photography and boudoir photography are my absolute favorites.

When it comes to boudoir photography, I believe every woman who steps in front of my camera has something beautiful for me to pull out. No two women are the same. No two sessions are the same. I may use the same pose more than once, but every woman brings something completely unique to it.

Boudoir is not just about outer beauty. These images reveal inner beauty, strength, softness, confidence, emotion, femininity, resilience, and joy too.
